For 10 years I worked as an art director and graphic designer. I left the field to express
my own voice, rather than that of others. My painting is my response to the world. I
paint about the things that speak to me — things I celebrate and struggle with; things
that are nourishing, troubling and everything in between.
I am drawn to encaustic because it’s about process. Melted wax demands immediate
action, creating an imperfect but authentic, response. The ever-changing form of the wax
is a metaphor for the fluidity of life.
I hope these paintings speak to you as well.
