“My work is based on my intense concern and love for the natural world, with a focus on
Sierra mountain scenes and the native plants of Sonoma County. My watercolor
paintings often begin with the inspiration found while exploring hills and valleys, coast
and mountains. Usually carrying my nature journal and a small watercolor kit, I try to
capture the truest image I can of the plant or scene before me. Journal entries may be
detailed watercolors or simple sketches, with notes on my observations to enhance my
future recall of that time and place. My goal is to express the excitement of my initial
inspiration in the finished painting.”
